• Who is the Rotax E10 for?

  The Rotax E10 is built for beginners and young drivers in the Bambini and Mini classes, typically aged 6 to 13 years, depending on national regulations. Always check your local race category rules for exact age limits.

• Do I need any special tools or knowledge to use the E10?

  No, not at all. The E10 is Plug & Race. There's no fuel mixing, no carburetors, and no complicated tuning. Just charge, hop in, and go racing – making it ideal for beginners and families new to karting.

• How long can I drive, and how long does charging take?

  You get up to 20 minutes of drive time per charge. Recharging from 10–80% takes about 34 minutes using a fast charger, keeping downtime between sessions short.

• Is the Rotax E10 safe for beginners?

  Yes. Safety was a core focus in the development of the Rotax E10. Its smooth power delivery, low-voltage design, and lack of hot or exposed moving parts already reduce many potential karting risks.

  Beyond that, the E10 features multiple active safety systems, including:

  • Clear kart status indication: Status lights on the Nassau panel and rear engine area visibly show whether the kart is off, energized, or ready to drive — for drivers, mechanics, and others on track.
  • Intentional activation only: The E10 operates in three states (Off, Energized, Drive). Entering Drive mode requires a deliberate dual-button input, ensuring the kart can only be activated when the driver is properly seated and ready.
  • Direction shift protection: Forward and reverse can only be selected at a complete standstill, preventing accidental or unsafe direction changes.
  • Continuous system monitoring: An integrated Battery Management System (BMS) constantly supervises the battery and powertrain to ensure safe operation.
  • Automatic limp-home mode: If any irregularity is detected, the system automatically reduces power to allow controlled and safe operation.
  • Thermal safety design: In the unlikely event of a thermal issue, a rear-facing venting valve directs any release away from the driver.
  • No-driver detection: If no driver input is detected for 30 seconds, the kart automatically returns to a safe energized state.
  • Emergency shutdown: A centrally mounted DESS key acts as an immediate emergency switch-off if required.

• Can the Rotax E10 compete with combustion karts?

• Can I race the Rotax E10 in professional competitions?

  Yes. Electric karting championships are emerging around the world, offering new opportunities for young talents. Starting in 2026, the Rotax E10 Mini will also be introduced as an official category at the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals.

  For the first time, 36 young drivers worldwide will compete in a dedicated all-electric E10 Mini class. Entry to the event cannot be purchased – drivers must earn their place by qualifying through selected competitions and initiatives during the season.

  Qualification formats and eligible events will be communicated through the official Rotax Distributor network. Families and drivers interested in competing are encouraged to contact their local Rotax Distributor for upcoming details.

• What configurations are available?

  The Rotax E10 has adjustable performance settings (Bambini and Mini) to enable racing across various age groups. These configurations can be accessed by using different DESS Keys, which are available at distributing partners.

• Where can I buy the E10, test it, or rent it?

  Depending on your region, we generally offer the following options:

  • Purchase the E10 powertrain only
  • Buy a complete, ready-to-race kart
  • Test or rent the E10 at selected tracks and Arrive & Drive programs, including Rotax Racing Clubs

  Availability varies by region – contact your local Rotax Distributor or use the dealer locator for details. We will also update our race calendars with further E10 racing opportunities.

• Does the Rotax E10 work with standard kart chassis?

  Yes – the Rotax E10 powertrain is compatible with standard 950 cm and 1050 cm kart chassis. These configurations are tested and fine-tuned specifically for the E10’s performance characteristics. The brackets for the motor and battery mounts must be purchased separately at the various chassis suppliers.

• How does the Boost Button work?

  The Boost Button is a unique feature of the Rotax E10. It delivers a 30% torque increase for 5 seconds, with a 45-second recharge interval. It adds a layer of fun and strategy to kart racing – perfect for tactical overtakes and defending your position.

• Can the Rotax E10 be remotely controlled or stopped?

  No. The Rotax E10 cannot be remotely controlled, remotely braked, or shut down from a distance. The kart is always controlled by the driver.

  Remote shutdown systems are sometimes used in rental go-karts for general safety management, but the Rotax E10 is a racing powertrain built for driver-controlled competition and training. The E10 operates offline and has no wireless connectivity that would allow external intervention. 

  All safety systems are onboard and autonomous, designed to protect the driver by monitoring the powertrain and reducing output only if irregularities are detected.
